► Objectified

By Gary Hustwit, the same man behind Helvetica: The Film, now comes Objectified, a documentary dedicated to our relationships with objects in everyday living, from the idea to the final product.

A must-see for any kind of designer at the very least.

The movie hasn’t been released yet. Any new information will of course be posted here.

► Inspired-Inspirers goes Live!

Today, after a whole lot of waiting, testing and preparing, finally the very first issue of my latest project Inspired-Inspirers sees the light of day.

Inspired-Inspirers is a place for inspiring people to show the world who inspires them.

This project aims to show that all of those who continue to push boundaries and amaze us all in many ways are the same as us. They are inspiring as well as inspired, teachers as well as learners.

The website’s idea is simple. Once every two weeks a brand new issue is released showcasing 4 inspirers from all sorts of places and disciplines. At the same time, each of these 4 featured guests show us 4 individuals that have inspired or continue to inspire them to keep moving forward and improving.

Hope you enjoy it. Any comments of course are always welcome.

► MWM Interviewed at CPLUV

A KDU partner and true inspiration, Matt W. Moore (a.k.a. MWM) is an artist who isn’t afraid to jump from canvas to monitors and viceversa.

With geometrical works with exceptional dynamism, Moore has managed to enter the international market and appear in books, magazines, packaging, textile and various other projects.

This time I’m posting this interview recently made by the guys at ComputerLove, where he speaks about his creative processes and his relationship to the Keystone Design Union.

For more info on MWM be sure to check his website MWMGraphics.com.

Big up Matt!.

► The KDU: featured members interviews

KDU Interviews

Down at the Keystone Design Union headquarters everyone is always busy with the pile of work that keeps on coming in, however, good ol’ coleague David Harris (A.K.A. SON) has been taking the time to interview a few of our family’s featured members.

So far he’s gotten his chat on with Neil Duerden, Nelson Balaban and more recently Pawel Nolbert.

Pretty cool interviews to get to know and see what different members from around the globe are up to.

Stay sharp for interviews to come down at the KDU global news site.

► Graphic Design: 25 Interviews

Via Design Float I found out that the always interesting Noupe recently made a list of 25 interviews with graphic designers from around the world.

Among the interviewed are big names Chuck Anderson, Cristiano Siqueira, Maciej Hajnrich and Matt W. Moore.

A very good and well rounded list that lets you understand a bit better how these image-making gurus think.

► Helvetica: The Film

I hadn’t realized I hadn’t posted anything about Helvetica: The Film, the movie about Helvetica, the typography.

I heard of it being made over a year ago, and since then I’ve been eagorly waiting to see it.

In the end the veredict is only one: It was worth the wait.

The documentary is excellent. Its editing is exceptional, the interviewed amazing, and the typography a modern classic.

From the testimonies of design geniuses such as Massimo Vignelli, Matthew Carter, David Carson, Paula Scher, Stefan Sagmeister and Eric Spiekermann among various others, Helvetica: The Film is a first class visual testimony that should without a doubt be seen by every graphic designer around the world. In fact I believe it should be being showcased in all design schools all over the globe. So if there happens to be any school directors passing by here, please try to show it. Your students will be grateful.

The best of all the documentary, in my opinion, is that it really manages to give Helvetica its well deserved protagonism, but at the same time gives an enormous amount of life advice, first to graphic designers, but really to any person who watches it.

This isn’t only a documentary about a typeface. It’s a graphic design guide written by the beautiful Helvetica.

And of course, not to leave you hanging. Here’s the full documentary.

Sadly the video has been taken down from the web. Still, if you get the chance to grab a DVD copy, do it!.
